Biographical Sketch of Blog Author: Amanda
Paul Holliday is a Wilmington native and has been a passionate educator for
nearly 20 years. Ms. Holliday graduated with honors from UNC-Chapel Hill with a
BA in English and concentrations in Creative Writing and African American
Studies. She went on to work in business and marketing for 5 years in both the
Chapel Hill and Wilmington areas before finding her way back to the classroom.
She started her career in education working with students with learning
differences and designing course work in Publications and Journalism class. From there, she has gone on to teach English for the last 15 years.
Ms.
Holliday has been active in the NC Association for Independent Schools and was
named a master teacher in 2011. She has gone on to be a presenter for the last
4 annual NCAIS conferences as well as an active participant in the NCAIS Women
in Leadership program. As most teachers are, Ms Holliday is a continuous
learner investing time and energy in constant professional development across
the country. In 2013, Ms. Holliday was named the English Department Chair for
grades 6-12 at Cape Fear Academy and is proud to be an advocate for both
teachers and students. As part of this endeavor, Ms. Holliday is currently completing her M.Ed. in Curriculum Studies for Equity in Education at The University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Ms.
Holliday lives in north Wilmington with her husband Lucas Cade Holliday, owner
of Holliday Construction LLC, and their 10 year old daughter, undeniably adorable dog, and intensely loving cat. In addition
to education, she is passionate about travel, reading, writing, and outdoor
pursuits.
